So you’re planning a Noosa Heads vacation? Well, you’ve come to the right place! One of Australia’s most sought after coastal destinations, Noosa Heads is renowned for its pristine beaches, stunning national park, boutique shopping, dining experiences and the list goes on! Whether you’re planning a quick weekend getaway or an extended relaxing escape, Noosa Heads has it all.

We’ve put together the ultimate guide of what to see and do, and where to stay, so you can easily plan your perfect holiday!

What To Do In Noosa Heads

Dining

The beating heart of Noosa’s dining scene is indisputably Noosa Heads, with a plethora of exquisite restaurants and cafes. You’ve got so many iconic establishments on Hastings Street, including Bistro C for absolute beachfront dining and Bang Bang for punchy Asian-fusion cuisine.

We especially love exploring Noosa Junction, where the dining scene leans more local and understated, without losing any of its quintessential Noosa charm. Our favourites? If you’re craving pizza, stop into Somedays for their authentic 48-hour fermented wood-fired pizza inspired by traditional Neapolitan methods. We also just love Izakaya Ate, a little hole in the wall Japanese joint serving up some of the best ramen and gyoza on the Sunshine Coast (big call, we know). Whatever you’re craving, you’re sure to find it in Noosa Heads.

Shopping

You can’t visit Noosa Heads without dabbling in a bit of shopping! Hastings Street is home to an eclectic array of local boutiques, international labels and everything in between. Some of our favourites? We love Alterior Motif for the perfect event outfit, Lamington for all things homeware and Little Cove Collective for everything you didn’t know you needed. A morning spent strolling along Hastings Street and you’re bound to find a little something to take home with you as a souvenir of your Noosa Heads vacation.

Exploring

One of the best ways to experience the serene natural beauty of Noosa Heads is heading out on a walk. Head into the iconic Noosa National Park, where an array of trails let you meander through pandanus-lined paths, rocky headlands and secluded coves, with sweeping ocean views at every turn. If you’re craving a slightly slower pace, take a stroll through Noosa Woods towards the Noosa Spit for a flat and easy walk. Make your way back along the beach and just soak up the serenity.

Day Trips from Noosa Heads

One of the best parts of a Noosa Heads vacation is how much there is to explore just beyond town. Here are a handful of our favourite day trips and tours you can take while holidaying in Noosa Heads.

Noosa Everglades

The Noosa Everglades is one of the most unique natural attractions in the region. It’s one of only two everglade systems in the world, this pristine environment is home to diverse birdlife and untouched ecosystems, making it feel a world away from the coastline. You can explore by guided canoe or kayak, offering a quiet and utterly immersive way to experience the unparalleled beauty of this exquisite landscape, drifting through narrow waterways and wide open lakes.

Noosa North Shore

Jump on the ferry at Tewantin and make your way across the river to Noosa North Shore, a vast stretch of coastline known for its raw, untouched beauty. You’ll need a 4WD to best explore the endless beaches and rolling sand dunes, but trust us, it’s totally worth it. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for an activity that’s a little bit off-the-beaten-track during your Noosa Heads vacation.

Noosa Hinterland

A criminally underrated and underexplored area of our stunning region is the Noosa Hinterland. Located inland from Noosa Heads, it boasts a diverse mix of natural countryside beauty and rural charm, with small, character-filled towns like Eumundi, Cooroy and Pomona waiting to be explored. From heritage buildings and charming local cafes to weekend markets and scenic lookouts, there’s no shortage of things to see and do. It’s the perfect way to round out a Noosa Heads vacation, offering a deeper glimpse into the region’s creative spirit and laid-back country lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best place to stay in Noosa really depends on the kind of holiday you’re after. If you want to be close to everything, Noosa Heads is ideal as it’s very central, with beaches, cafes, restaurants and Noosa National Park all within easy reach. For a more relaxed, local feel, Noosaville is a great option with plenty of dining and sunset spots and easy access to the Noosa River.

Noosa Heads is best if you want a classic coastal escape with easy access to Noosa Main Beach, Hastings Street and Noosa National Park. Noosaville is better if you prefer a quieter stay with riverside walking paths, laid-back restaurants and a more local vibe.

We always say the more the better! If you’re short on time, we recommend 3-5 days in Noosa is the sweet spot. It gives you enough time to enjoy the beaches, explore the National Park, fit in some shopping and dining, and still have time to slow down and relax into the coastal lifestyle.

All of them! For an iconic Noosa experience, Main Beach is an absolute must-visit, with its calm waters, golden sand, and effortless connection to Hastings Street.  We also love Little Cove Beach for a secluded coastal experience, and Sunshine Beach for that quintessential Aussie surf beach experience.

Noosa is beautiful year-round, but the most popular time to visit is spring through early summer (September to November) when the weather is warm and the ocean is inviting. Autumn (March to May) is also a great time, with warm water and a cruisey pace to enjoy all Noosa has to offer.
